Our Story

It all began at Boomtown Festival, August 2023.
A joke to get people with the same name in one place… turned into something else entirely.
We danced. We chanted “Ben.” And somewhere in that chaos, BENERGY was born.
There may have only been 27.5 Bens in that tent,
but it was never going to stay that way.
The Council of Bens was formed, and it grew fast!
One group chat became a community.
And that community became something people rely on.
All held together by one thing: BENERGY.

We’ve taken a joke and made it have a real impact
£20,000+ raised for varied charities
From climbing Ben Nevis, to partying in front of Big Ben... We don’t do things quietly!
We’ve:
- Chucked Bens out of planes raising over £14,820 (so far).
- Climbed mountains for Young Minds UK and Mind.
- Signed 50+ people up to the stem cell register with DKMS.
- Taken on challenges with Prostate Cancer UK.
- Run events, talks and campaigns around mental health and community.
And beyond the headline moments, we show up for the smaller ones too.
Food banks. Clothing drives. Litter picks.
Because impact isn’t just the headline stuff. It’s showing up consistency.

This is the heart of the Benpire.
What started as a group chat is now a growing network of people...
Different ages, backgrounds, and walks of life, all connected by the same thing:
Their first name- (Ben if you hadn't figured it out!)
The main community figure has grown into the thousands,
with 40+ sub chats chats covering everything from fitness, to music, and other unique shared interests.
At the centre is our Bental Health chat.
A space where people can speak openly, be heard and actually get support when they need it. And it works Bentastically!
Why we operate as a CIC

The Council of Bens exists to bring people together and create real impact- Operating as a CIC (Community Interest Company) keeps us accountable to that!
It means everything we do is built around community, not profit.
Money raised goes back into experiences, support and initiatives that actually benefit people.
From charity events and challenges
to mental health spaces like Bental Health and Brew With Ben,
this structure allows us to grow without losing what matters.
